What does Digital Nomad mean in terms of obtaining visas?
Foreigners who travel to Spain to carry out remote work or professional activity for companies located outside national territory, solely using a computer and computing, electronic and telecommunications’ systems and media.
The document includes important tax measures, does away with red tape and makes procedures more flexible to encourage the creation of and investment in emerging technology-based companies. Important measures are also included to attract and recover international and national talent, encouraging “digital nomads” to settle in Spain, in other words, those entrepreneurs and remote workers who travel to Spanish territory. These people will have the possibility of residing and working in Spain for 5 years, as well as taking advantage of the special tax regime and paying non-resident income tax. With the aim of repatriating talent, the general requirements to access this regime have been relaxed (with the requirement of not having previously resided in Spain being reduced from 10 to 5 years).
