The gastronomic offer in Castrillón is excellent and varied, from Michelin-starred establishments to others that are very economical and, in many cases, offer excellent value for money.

There is a wide range of restaurants and bars.

The Arnao Mine Museum is one of the most interesting tourist sites in the municipality. And, to “drop anchor”, nothing better than the Anchor Museum in Salinas, near breathtaking landscapes (beaches, trails…).

The fiesta of Piedras Blancas and Día de Castrillón, the first weekend in July, are the most popular festivals in the municipality, as well as those of San Isidro, the pilgrimage of San Adriano and events such as the International Longboard Festival or the Surf, Music & Friends Fest, which combine sport and leisure, or the EWAN FESTIVAL, a music event that has become a national reference.

Several neighborhood and cultural associations, including “Banda de Gaitas L’Arborcer” and “Grupo de Baile Regional Espolín”, are devoted to Asturian pipe music and dance, respectively.

The municipality offers endless kilometres of coastline with numerous beaches, a plethora of nature and leisure activities, and a peaceful yet dynamic lifestyle.

A wonderful destination on its own.

Castrillón is pure beach. Its coastline has one of the longest beaches in the whole of Asturias, the Bayas beach, which is flown over by planes taking off and landing in the region at Asturias Airport, also located in Castrillón. Other beaches full of glamour, history and surfing are dotted around the municipality, such as Salinas, San Juan de Nieva, Arnao and Santa María del Mar. Castrillón combines the mine and the sea like no other, because Arnáu, as well as a powerful sandy beach, was the place where – thanks to the wealth and outcrops of coal in the area – the first underwater mine in Spain was created by the Real Compañía Asturiana de Minas, which brought mining closer to the Spanish Royal Family.

So much so that Isabel II was the first crowned woman to visit a mine, her son Alfonso XII was also there, and Alfonso XIII even anchored the Royal Ship ‘Giralda’ in San Xuan.
The ‘Philippe Cousteau’ Anchor Museum in Salinas, or the glamorous and creative cuisine practised by famous and renowned chefs in this part of Asturias, are also very real.Real y mucho es también el Museo de Anclas ‘Philippe Cousteau’ en Salinas, o la cocina glamurosa y creativa que practican afamados y reconocidos chefs en esta parte de Asturias..
