Support for the Elderly.

Coaña is a small, rural municipality that combines beach and mountains with various services, including a regional hospital. It also offers a vast cultural heritage, with its “castros” (fortified settlements dating back from the Iron Age) and its mansions of “indiano” style architecture, as well as a rich local gastronomy.

Coaña is a municipality that offers both sea and mountain, tradition and modernity. It has one of the most important Celtic forts, the Castro of Coaña, and a diverse gastronomy that ranges from traditional to avant-garde. Our cultural agenda is rich and varied throughout the year, with numerous associations linked to popular festivities and pipe bands, all of them committed to preserving and strengthening our culture and traditions. Coaña has quality health services, including a health centre, a regional hospital, and an industrial estate that has become a reference in the Principality. Due to all these reasons, Coaña has been awarded for its cultural projects that aim to revitalise the population.

If any area in Asturias symbolises and sums up the meaning of castreña culture, it is Coaña. Its famous castro is located in a place with spectacular views and beautiful surroundings and is a reliable exponent of this culture. In addition, its didactic classroom is the ideal complement for a more in-depth contact with the Castro world and its way of life. Although Cuaña is the most popular, others such as Mouguías/Mohías are also key places for understanding a culture that proliferated in a specific way in western Asturias.

But Coaña is not just about forts. There is a port as emblematic as Ortigueira, and a lighthouse such as San Agustín, which ‘eats’ with its avid gaze the immensity of the ocean, that sea that runs parallel to the Camino de Santiago de la Costa, the primordial one, which has in Coaña one of its charismatic and unforgettable stretches.
Coaña, marked by the forts, by the river Navía, by the beaches of Arnelles and Torbas and the privileged viewpoints of ‘Pico de Jarrio’ and ‘Bustabernego’, and by so many unforgettable experiences and memories.
