The highlight of the territory is the Medieval Village of Bandujo, declared a Cultural Interest Site on October 29th, 2009.
The municipality of Proaza stands out for its stunning natural beauty and proximity to Oviedo, with all services just twenty minutes away, all while offering the serenity of rural living and the warmth of its friendly residents.

Its strategic location meant that in the Middle Ages it was a key point in the communication between Asturias and the Meseta. From that epic period, Proaza preserves abundant and striking remains such as the medieval tower of Proaza.
Likewise, one of the few preserved medieval villages in Asturias is a testimony to that power: Banduxu, which also held the rank of being the first capital of Proaza.

Proaza is an ideal terrain for hiking and for all kinds of activities in nature. The river Trubia and the green and leafy landscapes that make up the area make it a mecca for hikers and cycle tourists who follow the Senda del Oso, one of the most outstanding green and ecological itineraries in Spain, which runs through the heart of Proaza, whose capital is also home to the Casa del Oso.
